Pre-Kindergarten at Saint Mary Magdalen School is an early childhood education program for four-year-olds which is developmental, entertaining, and meaningful to young minds and where children experience a pleasure in learning. |

In a faith filled environment, children will experience the love of God; develop a caring attitude for all that God has created; practice sharing, caring, loving, and forgiving; learn to express feelings in an acceptable manner; and, respect the feelings of others. They will recognize Jesus as a friend and teacher; and speak with Him in simple class prayers; listen to Him through His spoken word in the Bible; and, grow in awareness of what’s right and wrong. |
A happy, safe, and nurturing environment...
Through a happy pre-school experience, children will develop a positive attitude toward school and learning. They will exercise self-control and self-respect; be helpful and accept help from others; play appropriately with other children; and, be courteous, use proper eating manners, show gratitude and take turns.

A developmentally appropriate academic program...

Children will acquire school readiness skills as they become familiar with:
•Capital and lower case letters; speaking in complete sentences •Left to right and top to bottom progression; writing letters of the alphabet and writing their first names •Grouping objects by color, shape, and size; recognizing colors, basic shapes, and the numerals 1-10; writing
numerals and counting orally •The Flag of the United States and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance •The family unit, community helpers, and safety procedures •Good health habits and nutrition; body parts and the five senses; changes in weather and seasons •Skills needed to color, cut, paste, and paint; singing, listening to songs, and keeping time to music with body movement •A variety of manipulatives to develop thinking and fine motor skills. |
