A School Faculty’s Prayer
As We Plan for School Improvement
God, our Father, our creator and our steward:
You entrust us with the well being of a precious gift, our Catholic school. As stewards of this institution and its mission, we the members of its faculty are challenged to carry it forth, “not just to mark time, but to make a difference—-to make it stronger, freer—-to leave her in good hands.”
We ask you for insight to creatively respond to the dilemmas and challenges we confront as a faculty. Give us clarity. Enable us to step back, reflect on and evaluate the progress of our school since the time of accreditation, to see in what ways we have improved and moved our school forward. Help us “to discover what it is like to be a child in our school.”
We ask for openness to your inspiration and to one another’s thinking and expertise to arrive at new goals and the appropriate strategies for their accomplishment. We ask for energy and commitment to move forward the strategies that will direct our school into a new day and hopeful future. In this way, we will make our school stronger. We will ensure quality education and solid Christian formation and we will make our school better than we find it today.
Father, we ask for the energy we need to “maintain the momentum!”
This we ask in Jesus’ name, remembering that Christ is the reason for our school, and that we the faculty, by our example as loving and reverent stewards, must allow him to be “the unseen but ever-present teacher in its classrooms, the model of its faculty, and the inspiration of its students.”
Amen.
